Spectrum Designs Medical silicone based scar management products include a complete selection of scar therapies for the treatment and prevention of hypertrophic and keloid scars following surgical procedures or trauma to the skin. Spectragel products are an excellent treatment for scars resulting from heart surgery, caesarean, abdominoplasty or breast reconstruction procedures. Spectragel products soften, smooth and flatten most scars as well as reduce redness and return natural skin color.

Spectragel, The Sheetless Keloid Scar Gel is the original formulation topical gel used primarily for exposed skin surfaces such as neck and facial areas. Spectragel Laser Care is a new formulation which provides a smoother application, with improved drying characteristics for sensitive skin following laser or micro dermabrasion procedures. SpectraFilm is a highly conformable, clear, self adherent silicone gel sheet designed for scar sites covered by clothing. SpectraFilm is recommended for management of older more persistent scars.

How does Spectragel work?
Although the mechanism of action for Spectragel is not fully understood it is thought that the hydration of the scar site may help create ideal conditions for softening and fading of scar tissue. Spectragel will not remove scars, since scars are permanent. When used properly as directed, Spectragel will help manage existing scar tissue and will reduce the size and discolored tissue created by the scar.

Spectragel is a topical gel designed for the management of keloid and hypertrophic scars. Spectragel is water-repellent, air permeable, odorless and invisible in just 10 -15 minutes. The 1 ounce tube can last up to 90 days for a 3 to 4 inch scar. Once dry, Spectragel may be worn under makeup. A great advantage of using Spectragel is its ease of application and effortless maintenance.
