How does Spectragel work?
Although the mechanism of action for Spectragel is not fully understood it is thought that the hydration of the scar site may help create ideal conditions for softening and fading of scar tissue. Spectragel will not remove scars, since scars are permanent. When used properly as directed, Spectragel will help manage existing scar tissue and will reduce the size and discolored tissue created by the scar.

Spectragel is a topical gel designed for the management of keloid and hypertrophic scars. Spectragel is water-repellent, air permeable, odorless and invisible in just 10-15 minutes. The 1 ounce tube can last up to 90 days for a 3 to 4 inch scar. Once dry, Spectragel may be worn under makeup. A great advantage of using Spectragel is its ease of application and effortless maintenance.

What type of scar management
product is right for you?

Spectragel and Spetragel2Q are designed to be worn in areas of exposed skin where a sheeting application would be less desirable. Since they are both virtually invisible when applied they are ideal for use on the face. A scar gel application is also recommended for areas of the skin which make it difficult to apply scar sheeting such as the hands. Spectragel is our widely used original formula. Spectragel2Q is our lighter, quick drying formula for more sensitive skin. Both are highly effective in reducing the size and color of your scar. For large, older, or more persistent scars Spectrafilm silicone sheeting is recommended. Spectrafilm is highly effective on scars following surgical procedures and is available in several corresponding shapes for ease of use.

How long must you wear Spectragel?
You may start noticing your scar fading within two weeks. For others it may take longer, up to 1 month. The more you consistently wear Spectragel the more effective the results are in reducing the size of your keloid or hypertrophic scarring. Most people will see very satisfactory results from the recommended usage.
