Custom Implants

Our custom silicone implant service begins with a moulage or drawing provided by the surgeon. Each implant is molded from FDA master filed long-term implantable materials to provide a unique design for each patient. Fast, reliable service makes this implant option available when a standard implant just won't do.

Once we have received your completed custom implant order forms, we will send you a moulage kit, designed to create a pattern of your patient's defect. Return the pattern and Spectrum will produce a special mold and create an implant to your specifications molded out of master-filed silicones.

Each custom fabrication requires a signed Custom Implant Device Agreement and Patient Consent Form. A custom implant design is always unique to each patient and is fabricated only once. You can download a PDF of our custom forms below. Please complete each form and return to us by mail or fax.

Spectrum Designs Medical Special Implants:
If you are able to find a specific Catalog Implant part that meets your needs, but would like to change the durometer or add a fixation method, we can provide you a sterile or non-sterile implant with these modifications. For vigorous fixation of a body contour implant, Velour Dacron material can be applied to the back of the implant. The Dacron material will allow tissue to bond with the implant and prevent a larger implant from shifting after implantation. Other fixation methods include suture loops, and tissue ingrowth holes for thinner implants.

Lead times for a Custom or Special Implant are generally 4-6 weeks.
Implants that are non-sterile may have a shorter lead time – please inquire.
